Known for winning 13 Nobel Prizes, 113 NCAA titles, helping to create the internet, and pioneering reverse osmosis, UCLA is most certainly an esteemed college. Surrounded by beautiful Californian palm trees and located 30 minutes from Hollywood, this university is the place to be for those who are qualified. Some iconic alumni who attended UCLA are James Franco, Troy Aikman, James Dean, and Jackie Robinson, to name a few.

Academics
With more than 125 majors and 3,800 courses offered, UCLA is ready to help you define your academic path. Because of its high regard, the university is not one of the easiest to get into. In fact, their academic requirements are among the most rigorous in the nation. Once you are among the list of chosen students however, expect to receive endless resources throughout your journey. While all majors at UCLA are highly ranked, some of the most popular are biology, psychology, film, and engineering.

Campus Life
When is comes to looking at all aspects of college life, UCLA really does have it all. Not only do they have stellar academic programs, but campus life is top notch as well. From the aesthetically beautiful campus, to the over 1,000 clubs and organizations, your experience is sure to be everything and then some. In the beginning of the fall semester, a festival called Bruin Bash is held, where top performers are featured, such as Jay-Z and LMFAO, to kick-off the start of a great school year. UCLA’s website describes LA life by saying that the journey is the destination.

Tuition
With all of the bells and whistles UCLA has to offer, you’re probably expecting tuition to be extremely expensive. To much surprise however, it costs less than you would think. For California residents, tuition is $13,086 per year plus $14,904 for room and board. For out of state residents, tuition is $24,708 plus room and board.

If this cost is still too steep for you, take comfort in knowing that 44 percent of UCLA’s undergraduate students pay no tuition at all. The university offers scholarships and grants to students as well.
