Dreams really do come true – especially for our new editor, Katie Barry. As a freelance copy writer and editor, Katie has spent her career working in marketing, branding, public relations, ghost writing and politics. But her professional life started right here at NextStepU! That’s right, Katie started out as an editorial intern as a sophomore in college in 2002.

In 2004, she graduated from Nazareth College with a BA in English and was hired as a marketing writer for an internet-based software company. From there, Katie’s interest in politics and government drove her to a position as a legislative assistant for the Monroe County Legislature (NY). Her experience in government grew as she held increasingly important roles, including communications manager and speech writer for the county executive.

In 2009, Katie decided to embark upon the world of freelance writing and ventured out on her own. Since then she has enjoyed working from home and raising her two children, Liam and Emily. She has worked with everyone from independent authors to major corporations, but there is one place she has always called home, and that’s NextStepU.

For Katie, becoming editor is more than a great opportunity. It’s a dream come true!  And it doesn’t get much better than that.

Katie, we are so excited to have you with us here at NextStepU in your new position!
