Do something good…get something good in return!

Hey NextSteppers!

We heard of a really cool opportunity for you guys, so of course we had to share it with you! DoSomething.org and Discover have recently partnered together to encourage students across the nation to petition their high schools and demand ¬†financial education courses in their classrooms. Why is this being encouraged? Because a majority of students say that they need to be more educated in financial topics but aren’t learning the information that they need in high school. In fact, only 13 states in the nation require any sort of course in finance before graduation.

So how is this an opportunity for you? If you go to DoSomething.org before the end of the year and sign the petition demanding better financial literacy courses and share it with five others you will be eligible to win one of several $3,000 scholarships for higher education! Two of these prizes have already been awarded and four more are up for grabs this year. In addition to being entered to win, you’re also supporting better education opportunities for everyone in the country.

This is a great opportunity to encourage some good change in education as well as giving you a chance at some cash for college! Let us know what you think about this issue in the comments below and good luck!
