Tuesday Tour Day – Oregon Institute of Technology

Today, let’s take a tour of Oregon Institute of Technology!

Founded in Klamath Falls, Oregon in 1947, Oregon Institute of Technology is one of seven institutions in the Oregon University System, and the only public institute of technology in the Pacific Northwest. Oregon Tech has a main, residential campus in Klamath Falls and has maintained a presence in the Portland metro area for nearly 30 years.

Students at Oregon Institute of Technology receive a rigorous, practical education that emphasizes the application of theory for real-world solutions. Faculty members at Oregon Tech are experienced in their career fields and bring that experience to the classroom. Oregon Tech maintains a low student to faculty ratio of 15:1 because of the intensive, hands-on approach our faculty use in the classroom, providing personal instruction to every student. Oregon Tech’s main campus is in Klamath Falls; other sites are located in Portland, La Grande, Salem, and Seattle.

Oregon Institute of Technology is a dynamic campus community. A uniquely engaging living and learning environment, students not only get an education, they get involved. Oregon Tech offers a full array of campus activities from concerts and comedians, intercollegiate, intramural, and club sports to more than 40 student clubs.

On the Klamath Falls Campus, students can live in either of the residential housing options. Students can choose to live in the Residence Hall, a three-story traditional residence hall that offers students single or double rooms. Common areas within the hall bring residents together and the Night Owl snack bar satisfies those late-night cravings.

The Village for Sustainable Living offers apartment style living arrangements, where each student has their own room, but shares the kitchen and a furnished living room with three or four roommates.

The Financial Aid Program at Oregon Institute of Technology constitutes of over 27 million dollars in federal and state grants, scholarships, loans, private loans and part-time employment as aid resources for students. In 2009-2010, 86.9 percent of full-time, first time freshman received aid and 75.8 percent of full time undergraduate students received aid. In 2010-2011 over 2,400 students were served.
