Meet our new intern – Krista Pilla!

Hi everyone!krista_pic

My name is Krista Pilla and I’m the Spring intern here at Next Step U – a position I truthfully never saw myself in, as I began my college journey at St. John Fisher College (www.sjfc.edu) as a sport management major. Having played soccer and various other sports all of my life, sports management was the obvious career choice, right? Wrong. It turns out that I don’t quite care how a team makes their revenue, who built their stadium or what contracts were signed this week. I quickly found that I would rather write about these things.

I have always enjoyed and excelled in English. So after my first semester of freshman year, I decided to swap my minor (communications) and my major (sport management). I can’t tell you how happy I’ve been since. My goals for the future quickly changed from becoming manager of the Boston Red Sox (sorry New Yorkers, I grew up with a die-hard fan), to becoming the next Anna Wintour.

But don’t worry, I still keep the sports world close to my heart. I’m on the varsity soccer team at Fisher and I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t half the reason I ended up in Rochester. During my first visit to Fisher’s campus, I immediately fell in love with the beautiful brick buildings and the girls playing on the turf at Growney Stadium. This was it; I knew I would spend my next four years inside those buildings and continuing to play the sport I love on that turf field. Suddenly, no other college looked appealing. So here I am, on the journey to Vogue (okay probably not, but a girl can dream, right?) and I couldn’t be happier to share my stories and advice with you!

Krista will be writing for our blog quite a bit over the next few months, so keep an eye out for her!
