Meet more Super Teens from California

“I love to try new things. I dance on the dance team, I sing for the old, I act in school plays, I am a photographer, and I play instruments,” says Lezhi (Rose) Wang of Torrey Pines High School. She is a veteran teen attorney of the San Diego Teen Court and started a club that allows fellow students to explore possibilities in the field of law. She plans to attend law school to become an international business lawyer, and to help people around the world achieve justice. She says she believes it is best to fight in courtrooms rather than to fight on the battlefield. As a side job, she would like to act to off-Broadway plays and musicals. She also wants to start a business to improve the quality of life for people around the world.

Elizabeth Wood of Trabuco Hills High School enjoys playing the violin in her school orchestra, donating to charities, and raising awareness of bullying and drugs and alcohol abuse. She says some of her best qualities are “being able to lend an ear, being diligent, and motivated at all times.” She strives to maintain good grades and is involved in numerous clubs and organizations at her school. She plans to attend college and then get a job in the field of social advocacy. A recent documentary she viewed on life in Uganda made her realize she wants to work in the humanitarian field and possibly travel the world to help those most in need.

Kevin Wright of Advanced Technologies Academy in Las Vegas says, “I think I stand out from my peers because of how much I willingly dedicate my time as evenly as possible to everything I partake in. The fact that I am involved in 16 different clubs and organizations, attend one of the most prestigious high schools in the country, and currently hold three jobs simultaneously is something that is not common with every student in high school.” He learned to be a leader by participating in a summer internship program called the Clark County Summer Business Institute. Last summer he was honored by being appointed civic team leader for one of the civic projects they worked on. He plans to attend Arizona State University and major in electrical engineering with a minor in business and hopes to receive his Ph.D. in engineering and a master’s in business

Aily Zhang of Castro Valley High School is president of the United Cause Club, which is dedicated to helping the neediest people in her local community as well as globally. She has organized many of the club’s charitable activities, such as a book drive for an orphanage in China, a care package drive for an orphanage in Mexico, and a school-wide world hunger awareness campaign. From her overseas travel, she has developed an interest in international politics. She is president and founder of her school’s Model United Nations Club. She plans to attend college and major in public health and international relations. Her dream is to work with Doctors Without Borders as a pediatrician.
