Featured Counselor: Linda Bradford

NextStepU loves to recognize counselors who make a difference in the lives of their students. We interviewed counselor Linda Bradford about some of the things she likes most about counseling and what she’s done to get where she is today.

Q: First, what is your experience with counseling?
I have been a counselor for 6-12th at Jackson Christian School for the last 11 years. Working at JCS has been a blessing to me. Before going to JCS, I worked at South Side High School for two years as their librarian and I did the yearbook. When I first went into the Madison County System, I started at North Side Junior High and taught English for the 8th grade. I also worked at NorthEast Middle as the 7th Grade English teacher and team leader. I love working with children.

Q: Where did you get your education before becoming a counselor?
I graduated from David Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn. with a bachelor’s of science degree in education. Later, I received a masters in education from Union University in Jackson. I also have a counseling degree from Freed Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn.

Q: What do you enjoy the most about counseling?
I enjoy talking to young people and encouraging them to do their best in all areas of their life.

Q: Do you have any advice for high school students who are planning to go to college?
Major in something that you would love to do and that will bless your life.
