A holiday wish list for college students

iStock_000017996474Give yourself a pat on the back if you’ve already started your Christmas shopping. Don’t forget, though, to think about what you want for the holidays! To make sure you get what you want, make your shopping list known. You’re getting ready for college now and will likely be living in a dorm. There are plenty of products for college out there to make dorm life more comfortable, convenient, and downright fun. Here are a few to get you started.

Mini-Futon
College dorms don’t leave you with much seating space. Add some more comfortable, proper seating by including a mini-futon for college on your holiday shopping list. Full-size futons are comfy too, but they can be too large for the confines of a college dorm. Mini-futons, conversely, are sized just for college dorms. When you have friends visit, futons provide the perfect seating solution, and they’ll make that dorm room all-around more comfortable.

Pizza Dome
On those nights when you’re tired of your school cafeteria food, make sure you have a backup plan. Pizza is never a bad fallback, but how about making your own pizza, in a dorm room no less? You won’t need an oven; you’ll need only a Pizza Dome. Cooking in college and in a dorm is possible, and it can be plenty of fun. Plus, who doesn’t like pizza? As with any dorm appliance, check with your school’s guidelines first to make sure it’s OK to use.

Dorm Trunk
Did you spend move-in day at college carrying all your college supplies in cardboard boxes? You probably have enough boxes left over to make a fort. Now that the holidays are almost here, try upgrading. Dorm trunks are just so much cooler than suitcases and old cardboard boxes! They’re sturdier, meaning you can use them throughout college. Some also have wheels, which is a nice addition for heavier loads.

Memory Foam Mattress Topper
Comfort is always in demand, but now that the holidays are approaching, make a comfy addition to your gift list. Out of the box, that dorm bed is about as comfortable as lying on a bag of rocks. So to soften up the situation, ask for a memory foam mattress topper. Just make sure it’s a twin XL-sized topper, as that’s the size you’ll need to fit your dorm bed. The gift of a good night’s sleep is something you’ll appreciate every night. We’re not sure if Santa stops in dorm rooms, but once you have a layer of memory foam on your bed, you’ll be asleep before you can find out!
