Tuesday Tour Day – Hawai’i Pacific University

On this week’s Tuesday Tour Day, we’re visiting Hawai’i Pacific University. Check it out!hawaii pacific

Hawai‘i Pacific University (HPU) is a private, nonprofit university with a diverse student population of approximately 8,200 undergraduate and graduate students from all 50 U.S. states and more than 100 countries.

Hawai‘i Pacific University combines the excitement of an urban downtown campus with the serenity of a traditional campus on the southeastern side of the island. The main campus is located in downtown Honolulu and is home to the College of Business Administration and the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. The Hawai‘i Loa residential campus is eight miles away in Kane‘ohe and is the site of the College of Nursing & Health Sciences and the College of Natural & Computational Sciences. HPU is also affiliated with the Oceanic Institute (OI), an aquaculture research facility on a 56-acre site at Makapu‘u Point.  These three distinctive sites are conveniently linked by shuttle.

Accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, HPU offers more than 50 acclaimed undergraduate programs and 14 distinguished graduate programs. The Princeton Review rates HPU as a “Best in the West” college while U.S. News and World Report ranks HPU in the top tier for Regional Universities in the West. Barron’s rates HPU one of the college “Best Buys” while Bloomberg Business Week recognized HPU as having the “Best Return on Investment” of any undergraduate degree in Hawai‘i.

HPU puts a priority on teaching. There are no student assistants; only highly qualified faculty with academic and business credentials. Faculty range from top-level executives to state government leaders that enliven the learning experience with real-world knowledge. Our student-centered approach and low student-faculty ratio of 15:1 naturally results in personal attention and one-on-one guidance. Even with 8,200 students, our average class size is under 25 students. This means you’ll enjoy all of the technological and academic resources expected at a large university, delivered within the atmosphere of a small school.

With students from all 50 states and more than 100 countries, HPU is one of the most culturally diverse universities in the world. Social and co-curricular activities are as diverse as the student population: they are multicultural, outdoor-oriented, and internationally flavored. In addition to social and cultural events, there are intercollegiate athletics, numerous clubs, service and pre-professional organizations, and an elected student government.
