  1. I think paying for college should be a joint effort. Perhaps parents can agree to pay for the first two years of tuition, while the student picks up the cost of books and the years following the first two. I think this would make for a fairly smooth transition from the easygoing teen years to the realities of adulthood.

    I think it is the student’s responsibility to pay for college. The reason being is that it is the child’s education and betterment.
