Every day we are reminded of that old Thomas Jefferson quote, “Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.”
It happened for me yesterday when I got a late-night call from my sister, a junior studying at the University of Buffalo in New York. She was telling me all about a final paper she’s working on, which is due in about a month.
As we all know, a research paper takes time. And for this particular paper (on ancient religions) she can’t even Google her sources. Instead, she has to rummage through archives and photocopy ancient (OK not ancient, but really old!) documents. So long story short, if she procrastinated on this project, she would have no chance on writing a good paper.
She’s not alone. As the school year comes to a close, many of you are faced with final exams, papers and reports — all of which require some advanced planning.
Sure, juggling various projects and test deadlines can get complicated. Luckily, one of our NextStepU contributors, Heather Bode, wrote a great piece called How to avoid the cramming crisis. She reminds us that you can be successful with a bit of planning and discipline.
So take my sister’s approach (chip at it a bit every week!) and follow some of these tips from Heather and you’ll save yourself the grief later!
