Education
The ROTC is an elective curriculum that students can take with their required college classes.  Students will receive leadership training while having the usual college experience.  The main difference is that they will have the chance to be a leader in the Army, Navy, Air Force or Marine Corps after graduation.  ROTC students will learn how to lead others, motivate groups and conduct missions.

What to know before you apply
Since ROTC students take classes along with training, you should know whether you will be able to handle the workload.  Also, you should be aware that you will be expected to maintain certain grades, as well as a certain physical standard.  Prospective ROTC students should be prepared for the standard classes, physical training cadet training and extracurricular activities that are all a part of the program.

Salary
An ROTC education can prepare you for military careers in health care, aviation, finance, engineering, chemistry, law enforcement and transportation.  Your pay will depend on your branch of service, rank and occupation.  According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, newly enlisted members will receive about $1400 each month.  More experienced officers could earn about $2,655 each month.
