Our Teen Advisory Board is great for giving us awesome feedback on the questions we most want answered. Here are some of the highlights that we got from our November/December issue!
Q: Do you think employers should review social media profiles as part of the hiring process?
“While I do think that employers should know who they are hiring, I do feel that if an employee is supposed to keep their personal life out of the office, then why should an employer want to know their personal life? I think that reviewing social media profiles during the hiring process is an invasion of privacy.” —Alicia Hain
“I don’t believe that employers should review social media website profiles as a part of their hiring process. Social media networks, like Facebook and Twitter, are places where people can connect and share their life experiences with each other. Sites such as LinkedIn are used for employers to research and get to know you.” —Nicole Schuyler
Q: How important do you think internships are when it comes to finding a job?
“I think it’s very important because by interning you are putting yourself out there for future employers to see how you work and to make sure you are qualified for the position you want.” — Asheley Buchwalter
“I believe internships are a crucial part in the learning process before finding or beginning a job, and the experience is unlike any other.” — Arlene Valdes
