Summer may be in full swing but you are ready to get a move on to that sure-to-be-life-changing college experience. Sure, biology 101 sounds thrilling (to someone) but we know it’s ‘rush week’ you’ve got your brilliant mind on. You may be eager to leave your solo-self behind and join the sacred union of sisterhood, but pledging a sorority takes a little more planning than just brushing up on your Greek alphabet. Check out our tips on what to wear during rush and we’re sure you’ll have them pledging their love to you by the end of the week.

Round 1: Open House

Consider this your meet and greet of every sorority on campus. This round may be called Open House but it’s more of a speed dating event complete with high energy goddesses getting to know you with a few 5-minute rounds of “what’s your major?” Get a leg up on the other wide-eyed sister-wannabes and have a couple of fun facts about yourself prepared that will make you stand out from all of the other pledges.

You only get one chance to make a great first impression, so don’t waste yours by being underdressed. Think cute and quaint for this round – nothing too flashy but you don’t want to wear sneakers either. We’d suggest a pair of linen shorts with a frilly tank and some cute wedges or sandals to get you in the door – and on everyone’s short list.

Round 2: Philanthropy

This is the round things start to get a little less “what’s your major” and a little more “what’s your passion?” You’ll start to zero in on the house you really want to call your home with a more in-depth tour and presentation of what truly makes each house tick and their philanthropic focuses on a local and national level (#girlsruletheworld).

For this round wear your best brunch-with-mom attire. You want to look stylish and put together – basically like yourself. A cute floral sundress or romper with a pair of ankle strap sandals is just the right amount of prim and proper for this crowd. Add a pair of tassel earrings for a little bit of fun and we’re sure everyone will be lining up to get to know you.

Round 3: Sisterhood

You may not be able to pick your flesh and blood brood but this is one family you do have a say in joining. Round 3 is all about you deciding which house will have you feeling the most at home. Take the chance to gauge the personality of each sorority and decide where you’d be most comfortable – or which house will help you to become the best you that you can be. By the end of the night, you’ll have your top 3 choices of which house you’ll want to call home – and which women you’ll be calling sister.

Put on your best first-date dress for this round (after all, you are in the process of wooing your future soul mates). A sweet and sassy sundress, strap heels and a piece of statement jewelry should definitely leave them wanting more.

Round 4: Preference

The final round of rush week is all about putting your best foot forward. You’ll have an hour at each of your three choices to let them know why you are a good fit for their sorority. This is the round you drop some truth about who you really are and what you’re going to do to change the world (and how they can help you do it).

Wear your semi-formal finest to this final interview with fate. Consider something classic and elegant like a lace dress and heels and remember to keep your jewelry simple like gold hoops or a nice pendant necklace. After all, you don’t want your bling to be distracting. Because really, if anything is going to be sparkling in this round, it’s you.

Rush week is an exciting time and you should remember to have fun. You are about to become a part of something bigger than yourself – and help make a difference while doing it. We told you girls rule the world. Now get out there and make us proud.
