Dan Konopski, a junior at Grand Island High School, has a secret talent. When I asked for an interesting fact about himself, Dan told me, “I did once consume an entire two-liter bottle of orange soda in one sitting!”
Soda drinking skills aside, Dan is also a successful writer who writes short stories, plays and poetry. He is particularly good at cliffhangers, which he was about to explain before he cut off and left me hanging.
Dan’s many activities include running cross country which he was involved in throughout middle school and his freshman year of high school, but he has also become very active in his theatre department. Not only has he been in several plays, he also is president of the “Spotlighters” drama club at his high school. To add to his resumé, Dan is also a member of the National Honor Society and has earned a “life” rank as a Boy Scout.
As to his future plans, Dan has just started to do some research (and uses NextStepU for some important information he needs to know to prepare for the future!) While he has a few schools in mind, ultimately his decision will come down to what the school has to offer academically, its location, the environment and the reputation of the institution.
