If you’re not on a college’s wait list, consider yourself lucky.
For some, it’s harder to be on a wait list than it is to be rejected outright.
If you’re on a wait list, it’s hard to know when to accept another college’s acceptance. It’s hard to make plans, connect with other students, and start dreaming about your future.
Hard, but not impossible.
The best advice I’ve heard about how to handle being waitlisted is to give yourself a decision cutoff day. Decide at the beginning how long you don’t mind waiting. If that deadline comes and you still haven’t heard anything, YOU be the one to make the college decision. Commit to one of the other amazing schools that wanted you straightaway. And embrace the decision with gusto!
