Here at NextStepU we are getting into the holiday spirit! We wanted to know what the best holiday movies are — the “must-watch” movies for the season. So, we asked the staff for their ideas and then compiled a list for you to use as a guide.
I’d probably have to say my favorite holiday movie would be the cartoon version of “The Grinch” or “A Christmas Story” because there’s something so nostalgic about them. It brings me back to Christmas as a kid.
—Ethan Hackett
Digital Strategies Director
“ELF” I still laugh through the entire movie and cry at the end every time. ‘NextStepU! What’s your favorite color?’
—Susan Sullivan
NextStepU College, Career and Life Planning Center Director
“National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” will always be my favorite. Nothing says the holidays like a membership to the Jelly of the Month club. ‘That’s the gift that keeps on giving all year long.’
—Laura Sestito
Editorial & Production Coordinator
Movie: “It’s a Wonderful Life”
Why: I laugh. I cry. I get in the holiday spirit.
—Annemarie Maurer

“Elf,” of course. Best snowball fight ever!!!
—David Mammano

“Love Actually” is my heart-warming, tear-jerker favorite holiday movie. The song at the end gets me every time! And who doesn’t love a great British accent this time of year?!
—Diana Fisher
Marketing & Brand Director
My favorite holiday movie is “The Grinch!” Who doesn’t adore Cindy Lou Who?
It’s amazing the things that a child and the magic of Christmas can do for a soul!
—Renee Bates
HR & Finance Director
Nothing makes me think of the holidays more than “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!” I grew up watching Rudolph guide Santa’s sleigh with his shiny red nose. We thought the Abominable Snowman was so scary and you can’t help but love Burl Ives sing it’s a Holly Jolly Christmas.
